News Desk: After the allegations of offering bribe to the Army Chief General VK Singh rocked the Parliament, he tried to douse the controversy stating there was no rift with the government.
In a statement General Singh said, "There were rogue elements trying to create a rift between the government and the Army. There was no battle between the armed forces and the Government of India and the Army and the Chief were very much a part of it."
While the opposition BJP demanded the sacking of the General following a letter written by Singh to the PM was leaked to media claiming the shortcomings in army, Defence Minister AK Antony also came under attack.
Meanwhile, the CBI has filed a case in connection with the Tatra- Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) deal under which all-terrain Tatra trucks were supplied to the Indian Army.
The agency also issued a summon against Vectra group Chairman Ravi Rishi, who is a majority stake holder in Tatra, for interrogation in the case following VK Singh's allegations that he was offered a bribe of Rs 14 crore.
