Ode Massacre Case: 23 Convicted, 23 Acquitted |

Ahmedabad: In a significant ruling in Ode massacre case of the 2002 post-Godhra riots, 23 were convicted and 23 were acquitted of 47 accused by a special trial court in Anand district on Monday.
Of all the 47 accuses, 23 were found guilty. All the accused are facing charges of criminal conspiracy, murder, rioting, unlawful assembly and destruction of evidence. However, one accused died during the trial. Two are still absconding.
The incident had occurred on March 1, 2002, a few days after the Sabarmati Express burning in Godhra. The mob consisting around 2000 people had targeted 20 odd homes of Muslims in Ode village of Anand district and killed 23 Muslims.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the Supreme Court was probing the case.
