Mau: Two people including a police inspector and a criminal died in a gunfight between security forces and a group of criminals in Mau in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday evening.



The killed inspector was identified as Govind Singh. The encounter began when a group of four criminals fired at the police. In exchange of fire, one police constable was also injured.


Sources said that encounter is still going on. The criminals have entered a house for shelter and held a family as hostage in Mau.
