Chandipur: India's indigenously developed nuclear capable ‘Agni-V’ ballistic missile, which was scheduled to be test-fired on Wednesday evening, was postponed till Thursday morning.
The Ministry of Defence informed that the test-fire of the missile was put off due to heavy lightening. The trial will be conducted from Wheeler Island off Odisha coast at around 7:51 am on Thursday.
If the trial will be successful, India would join the club of countries in the world to possess the technology for Inter-Continental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM).
The surface-to-surface missile will be able to carry a pay-load of 1 tonne. It weighs 50 tonnes. It can withstand the 5000 degree centigrade temperatures when re-entering the earth's atmosphere. Agni V is capable of covering entire China and can reach deep into Europe.
