News Desk: A day after the CBI searched several places in Delhi and Noida in connection with the Tatra truck deal case, the agency conducted raids at Bangalore residence of BEML chief VRS Natarajan.
The raid came just two days after Natarajan was grilled by the investigation agency for over eight hours. His house was raided in connection with alleged irregularities in hiring of a Coimbatore-based Astra Management consultancy firm.
Even though, Natarajan is not accused in the Tatra truck deal case, he was named in an FIR filed in connection with irregularities in hiring of a consultancy firm.
The agency is probing whether Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), which is India's one of the biggest defence public sector units based in Bangalore, is involved in the Tatra truck deal case.
The CBI sought his clarification on certain decisions that were taken by the BEML while signing memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with Tatra.
Tatra is a Czech truck manufacturer which supplies parts to BEML. The trucks are assembled at BEML and sold to the Army. The deal came under scanner after Army Chief general VK Sigh said that he was offered a bribe of Rs 14 crore to clear the purchase of substandard trucks to army.
