New Delhi: Giving no relief to the Central government, the Supreme Court on Tuesday extended the auction and grant of fresh 2G spectrum licences till August 31. The court said that the government could not be given much time.

Meanwhile, the apex court also ruled that the existing licence holders would continue till September 7.

The court said that it could not give 400 days for granting of fresh 2G licences. The government sought more time for auction of the 2G after the cancellation of 122 licences granted by the former telecom minister A Raja.
