Fishermen Deaths: Cases against Italian Crew withdrawn |

News Desk: The families of two fishermen, who were killed by Italian guards on board Enrica Lexie in February, have withdrawn all the petitions against the Italian crew after they were promised that they would be given Rs 1 crore each as compensation.
The Italian government has also signed the compensation deal with the families of two Kerala fishermen stating they would be given Rs 1 crore each.
Following the agreement all the petitions against the Italian crew were withdrawn from the Kerala High Court. The families informed Justice PS Gopinathan that they are not going to fight the case against the Italian crew.
The compensation amount would be handed over to the victims' families by the Italian authorities later in the day.
However, the criminal case filed by the Kerala government against the Italian coast guards will not be withdrawn.
The ties between two countries was in trouble after two fishermen Valentine and Ajesh Binki were shot dead by marines on board 'Enrica Lexie' off Kollam coast being suspected as pirates.
Police arrested two Italian security guards and charged with murder. They were sent to the prison at Thiruvananthapuram since February 19.
