News Desk: Another scam hit the headlines on Wednesday with a probe ordered into the allegations that Italian firm had paid a huge amount to a Switzerland-based consultant for a deal to sell 12 VVIP choppers to India.

According to media reports, Italian government has ordered a probe into the allegations that Italian helicopter company Agusta Westland paid a commission of Euro 51 million (over Rs 350 crore) to a Switzerland-based consultant Guido Ralph Haschke, who facilitated the deal of selling 12 VVIP choppers to India in 2010.

Reports said that the Italian investigators raided the Swiss offices of Guido Ralph Haschke following a revelation by a former top employee of the helicopter company that Haschke was hired to facilitate the deal with India.

As per the SEBI records, Haschke is believed to have dual citizenship of Switzerland and the US. He was also on the board of directors of the Emaar MGF group in 2009. However, he quit the post due to personal reasons.

The investigators are now probing the testimony of Lorenzo Borgogni, former head of external relations of Finmeccanica, which is the parent company of Agusta Westland. He had alleged that Haschke was hired as a middleman for a huge amount to facilitate the deal with India.
