News Desk: Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma blamed racial discrimination that pushed his niece to commit suicide. She was found dead in her hostel room in Amity University in Gurgaon on Wednesday. She was pursuing an MBA at the University.

The victim was identified as Dana Sangma, niece of Mukul Sangma. He described her suicide as a result of discrimination by the authorities of the institute.

Primary investigation suggests that the girl was thrown out of an examination hall after the invigilator found a mobile phone with her. Sangma claimed that the students from the northeast region of India are always subjected to humiliation and atrocities by the institute. And his niece was the victim of that discrimination.

He said that humiliation and partiality could have resulted in mental pressure for which she took the extreme step. Sangma's daughter Miani Shira, who is also a student of SRCC, said that the university authorities had compelled Dana to take extreme step.

She alleged that her sister was in trauma. The university authorities also did not inform her family about the incident.

An FIR has been filed seeking action against whoever in the university is responsible for the incident.

However, the university rejected all the allegations saying there was no personal agenda against any student. Vice chancellor of the Amity University (Gurgaon), Major Gen (retd) B S Suhag said that the victim was a nice student and no complaint against her has been received. He said that the invigilator had reported a case of using unfair means, when she was caught with a mobile phone in the exam hall.
