Breaking News! In a big development, President Dr. Pratibha Patil has given up the land allotted to her in Pune, saying she was pained over the reports on her house. Earlier, media reported showed how rules were flouted while allotting the land for post-retirement home of the President.

The President was supposed to get just 2,000 sq. ft. land. However, RTI queries showed that her palatial mansion was under construction on a 2,42,000 sq ft defence land in Kirkee Cantonment, Pune.

In a guarded statement, the President's OSD said, "The President has highest regard for our war widows. She always worked for their welfare. There was no indication that the land was earmarked for the war widows. The President was pained at fallacious observations. Hence, she decided to forego the land".
