News Desk: At least 200 passengers are feared dead, as a ferry with over 300 people on board, sank in the Brahmaputra River near Fakirgram in West Dhubri district in Assam.

The ferry was moving from Dhubri town to Jaleswar, but was caught in a cyclonic storm, leading to the disaster. According to government sources, 200 people are still missing. The death toll could reach 200 or above.

At least 25 people swam to safety, but the fate of the rest of the passengers is not yet known. Over 103 bodies have been recovered so far. The police, BSF, Army and NDRF teams are involved in the rescue operations.
