Kolkata: US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday as part of her three-day visit to India. The two powerful women are likely to discuss the issues like Teesta Water Treaty and FDI.
Hillary’s meeting with Mamata could be considered important as the TMC chief had stalled the Parliament last year over FDI in retail.
For the first time two powerful women leaders are meeting at Writers' Building in Kolkata. They are likely to discuss the Indo-Bangla Teesta Water Treaty and FDI in multi-brand retail that Mamata has been opposed.
Mamata would like to discuss other economic reforms too. However, the issue of FDI in retail would be discussed on priority basis as Mamats's opposition to FDI poses a hindrance in trade between foreign countries and India.
