News Desk: A Joint Secretary ranked female officer has been blamed for leaking Army Chief General VK Singh's letter to the Prime Minister, claimed the PTI.

The female officer, who was working with the Indian Economic Service (IES), was handling the charge of intelligence agencies under the Cabinet Secretariat. The IB sleuths nailed her during the investigation. She was later shifted to the parent cadre.

Further action would be taken against the female officer for leaking the sensitive documents and brining disrepute to the service. The PMO has reportedly denied any involvement in the leakage of the letter.

Gen Singh had written to the PM about Indian Army's lack of preparedness and shortage in arms and ammunition. That triggered a storm nationwide. Many political parties blamed the Army Chief for leaking the letter. Now he stands vindicated.
