Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government led by Akhilesh Yadav has ordered a probe into the irregularities in the construction of the Dalit Prerna Sthal in Noida on Wednesday.

The park was constructed during Mayawati government with a cost of around 650 crore rupees in October last year.

The state government will probe an Rs 54-crore loss in the memorial park because of green violations.

Earlier, a search had been carried out by the police at the office of Rajkiya Nirman Nigam (RNN) in Gomti Nagar to dig out the irregularities in erection of the statues of elephants at parks in Lucknow and Noida.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday had claimed about a fraud to the tune of Rs 40,000 crore by the previous Mayawati government to mount a large number of statues of elephants and some BSP leaders. Elephant is the party symbol of BSP. The Samajwadi party leader has called it a huge scam and urged media personnel not to trim the magnitude of the scam.

Yadav further added that when the cost is worked out, cost of its land has not been taken into account.

The government is yet to decide in which form the inquiry should be carried out.

It has been reported that the Lokayukta has also given a report against several persons, including some ministers in this connection.
