Breaking News! The Congress-led UPA II Government at the Centre celebrated its third anniversary in power with a Rs 7.50 (per litre) massive hike in petrol prices, giving a big jolt to the people across the country.

The huge petrol prices hike of Rs 7.50 per litre came at a time, when the Indian Rupee plunged to Rs 56 against the US Dollar amidst fears of economic slowdown. The common people will have to bear the brunt of this petrol price hike.

The hike will take effect from midnight today. The government has argued that it had no option but to go for a hike in petrol prices to save the oil companies from bearing further losses.

The Revised Petrol Prices in Metro Cities:

Delhi - Rs 65.64 (Old), Rs 73.14 (New)
Mumbai - Rs 70.66 (Old), Rs 78.16 (New)
Chennai - Rs 69.55 (Old), Rs 77.05 (New)
Kolkata - Rs 70.03 (Old), Rs 77.53 (New)
