New Delhi: Putting all the speculations into rest, Oil Minister S Jaipal Reddy on Monday ruled out any price hike in diesel, LPG and kerosene for now. However, the finance ministry is considering to hike excise duty on diesel cars.

The minister said that the government is not considering any hike in diesel, LPG and kerosene right now. "We are not touching the prices of diesel, LPG and Kerosene as of now", he told reporters after a meeting on inflation and diesel pricing options on Monday.

He said that the Empowered Group of Minister (EGoM) on LPG and fuel prices will be held on June 1 to discuss the problems faced by the oil marketing companies and the subsidy sharing mechanism for diesel. He hinted at the hike in excise duty on diesel cars, which might be taken on that meeting.

The government may not consider about hiking price in diesel, LPG and kerosene after facing flak from its allies and oppositions for the Rs 7.5 per litre hike in petrol prices.
