News Desk: A fresh controversy hit the headlines in the molestation case of a minor girl in Guwahati when an RTI activist and KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi claimed that the incident was planned by an off-duty reporter of a northeastern news channel.

Gogoi claimed that the reporter had planned the incident for footage and he was also part of the mob that assaulted the girl.

The activist said the raw footage of the incident, recorded by a cameraman of Newslive channel, shows the reporter sitting with the mob. Gogoi demanded that the channel should be blacklisted and a probe should be conducted into the incident.

While the nation was outraged and debate on safety for women are disturbing the Assam government after a minor girl was molested publicly for 30 minutes, such reports will certainly raise the eyebrows.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today has set a 48 hour deadline for the state police to nab the culprits. Gogoi on Friday evening had appointed a Special Task Force to look into the matter. Meanwhile, a three-member team of the National Commission for Women will conduct a probe.

Police have also launched a manhunt operation displaying the posters of the faces of 13 accused to nab them.

Police have identified 13 of 20 accused so far from the footage of the incident. Four have been arrested in the molestation case of a minor girl in Guwahati.

The public outrage grew when the video footage showing a teenage girl was beaten up, stripped and molested in public, went viral on the internet. Several organisations demanded justice for the girl, who was molested at a busy road in Guwahati on Monday night for full 30 minutes by a mob of around 20 men.

A reporter, Dipya Bordoloi, and a cameraperson from Newslive, a local news channel, managed to capture the incident that was subsequently aired on the channel that night. Police said that the main accused is identified as Amarjyoti Kalita. He was seen wearing a red shirt in the video. The police believe he instigated and led the mob that molested the victim. His Facebook profile describes him as James Bond.

Several news reports said that the group molested the girl even after she was rescued by the police and was inside the jeep where the cops were sitting.

The news spread like a wave across the country when the video footage was aired online as well as media. The girl was attacked by the mob when she was returning home after a party at a city bar. She allegedly had an altercation with a young man, who had passed an obscene remark at her.
