Assam Molestation: 3 More Arrested, Scribe Resigns PDF Print E-mail

News Desk: Three more people were arrested today in connection with the molestation of a minor girl in Guwahati on July 9, taking the number of arrested to six. Meanwhile, the journalist, who filmed the entire incident, has resigned from his job.

 

The Guwahati police arrested Diganta Basumatary and Navajyoti Deka while Ghanshyam Mallick was arrested from Bijni area. Main accused Amarjyoti Kalita is still at large.

 

The journalist Gaurav Jyoti Neog, who worked with Assamese News Channel, News Live, has termed all allegations against him and resigned from his job pending inquiry. He further said that he would be happy to rejoin the channel once his name is cleared.

 

Earlier, RTI activist Akhil Gogoi had accused Gaurav of planning the incident to gain mileage for the TV channel. He was also accused of inciting the mob. Meanwhile, the News Life channel has given clean chit to Gaurav.
