Chardham Yatra halted due to Heavy Rains in Uttarakhand PDF Print E-mail

Breaking News! The heavy rain created havoc in Uttarakhand suspending Chardham yatra. 10 people have been killed and over 50 are missing in flash floods and landslides in the state.



Hundreds of Badrinath pilgrims were stranded at Patalganga, Lambagar and Birahi after the rain triggered landslides and flash floods across the state. The water level of Bhagirathi and Ganga rivers is on rise. A high alert has been issued in several areas along Ganga.


Three jawans were killed at Gangori area in the flash floods. The Chardham Yatra to Gangotri and Yamunotri has been suspended. The Bhagirathi River is flowing above the danger level and people have been evacuated to safer areas.


According to latest reports, nearly 30 homes have been washed away in the floods. The Kedarnath yatra was also suspended. The government is monitoring the situation and called the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Army jawans for rescue operations.
