Parents sentenced to 10 yrs in Jail for torturing Child PDF Print E-mail

News Desk: A sessions court in Delhi has sentenced the parents to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for torturing their three-year-old child. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on them.


The child's father is a retired Army Officer. Major Lalit Balhara and his wife Preeti, who is the child's stepmother, were convicted of baby battering with intention to kill.


The child is now 13-year-old. Appearing before the court, the child revealed how he was regularly beaten by his parents since he was 3-year-old.


The child had 17 fractures, multiple strokes, cerebral palsy, which suggests that he was 90 per cent disabled.
