Breaking News! Just three days after he was beaten up at a Chandigarh seminar by Kashmiri Pandits and youths from saffron group, Kashmiri separatist leader had to face protests from the BJP's youth wing in Kolkata. Â Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was in Kolkata to attend a seminar on 'Kashmir- A Way Out'. The protesters shouted slogans and displayed banners 'Bharat Ek Hai' and 'Mirwaiz Murdabad'. They also hurled eggs at his vehicle. Â At least 20 people were arrested in connection with the incident. Mirwaiz escaped unhurt. He was whisked away by the police and the organizers of the seminar. Â At the seminar, Mirwaiz reportedly spoke in support of "Freedom" or "Azadi" in Kashmir and termed Kashmir as a disputed territory. He rejected the economic package and said that people of Kashmir want nothing but freedom. |
