Breaking News! In a big development, WikiLeaks revealed that India's secular education system has been able to provide Indian Muslims to seek their space in mainstreams of politics rather than interest in Islamist extremist organisations.

The commentary on Indian Muslims by the former US envoy to New Delhi David Mulford has been recorded in a cable in 2005. It revealed that India's vibrant democracy and its secularism have the example for other countries.


Mulford said that the rise of Muslim population in India has never been a barrier to the country. Rather, the country's policies have successfully able to eliminate the narrow mentality of Muslims and provide over 150 million Muslims to participate in politics, education, economy and various other sectors.


Earlier, extremist groups were focusing on Indian universities for their recruitment ground. But the secular education system in the country has transformed Muslim mind. As a result, they are seeking their place in various sectors after completing their studies at universities. They are learning English apart from Urdu and entering into job market. They are not interested in extremism.


Exemplifying the then Indian President Abdul Kalam who had occupied the prominent position in India both in politics and science, the diplomat said that Kalam is the ideal for most of the Muslims in India. Muslims have been encouraged to seek political power eliminating the violent opinion of extremism.


Even the US former President George W Bush had appreciated the secularism of India who binds all the religious people in one
thread. Mulford notes that Muslims feel more secured to live and exercise their Muslim laws and customs without fear and obstructions. Even if people are suffering from poverty, it never stands as an obstruction.


The opportunities Muslims are getting from India, no other country provide facilities and provision to them, he wrote in the commentary. Islamic extremism never attracts Indian Muslim youths.
