By Himanshu Guru: Wikipedia, the world’s leading free online user generated encyclopedia completed 11 years on 15th January 2012. This event was celebrated in seven cities of India, including Cuttack in Odisha.

The contributors and passionate fans of Wikipedia celebrated the 11th Birthday of this largest online encyclopedia at the IITM, Upper Telanga Bazaar in Cuttack. The group of young and energetic boys customarily cut the wiki cake to mark the occasion.

The event was followed by an academic discussion about Wikipedia and dance. The event finished with a photo shoot and the party was over.

This super celebration was organized and attended by Wikipedians like Ashutos Kar, Jnanaranjana Sahu, Jyotiprakash Satyakam Das, Kamalakanta Nayak, Krupasindhu Muduli, Mrutyunjaya Kar, and Srikant Kedia along with other Wikipedia fans.

Krupasindhu Muduli of this group has informed our correspondent that their group is on a mission to popularize Wikipedia and its Odia version. In this sequel, they are also going to celebrate the birth of Odia Wikipedia on coming 29th January.

The Odia version of Wikipedia is also available along with other 19 Indian languages. It had been initiated on 29th January 2002 on the web.
