News Desk: Italian tourist Bosusco Paolo, who was released by the Maoists after 28 days in captivity in Odisha, gave another shocking statement that he was kidnapped by the tribals earlier too.

Talking to a TV channel in Italy, Paolo said that this was not the first time he was kidnapped in India, but it had happened earlier. He claimed that he was held hostage by some tribals earlier too.

When asked why did not reveal it before, he said, "I did not say anything as it might have created problems". Appearing on an Italian talk show 'Le Invasioni Barbariche' on La7 channel on Saturday, Paolo said that he was treated very well in the captivity.

The hostage, who flew his country after his release, never wished to come and visit again to India after such incident. Recalling his recent abduction, he told that escaping from the Maoists was impossible for him as the militants were all around him. He became a celebrity in Italy after his abduction in Odisha's Kandhamal on March 14.

However, Paolo did not give details of the place and time of his previous abduction. Odisha police said that Paolo did not reveal anything about his previous abduction while being questioned in Bhubaneswar after his release last week.

Odisha police said that they will contact the Italian embassy regarding his claim. Police said that many tribals in Maoist-hit districts do not like foreigners. Paolo might have come under suspicion and therefore, he might have been detained by the tribals.
