Sambalpur: The angry lawyers created trouble for Odisha's Sambalpur district collector by chasing her and ransacked her residential office. Even the female IAS officer was abused in filthy language when she tried to escape the office.

Three FIRs including a Counter FIR have been lodged in connection with the case. While lawyers lodged an FIR, one each FIR has been lodged by the district collector Mrinalini Darswal and Sambalpur deputy sub-registrar (DSR).

The incident took place over the protests by the lawyers against hike in valuation of land in January. The issue triggered a heated argument between the advocates and the Collector at the DSR office on Monday morning.

The angry advocated tried to confine her at the DSR office. When she tried to escape the office, she was chased and abused in filthy language. The group of lawyers then hurled stones at the Collector's residential office, destroyed flower pots, furniture and electronic equipments.

Following the report, police rushed to the spot and rescued the Collector. Darswal accused the lawyers of trying to manhandle her, abusing her in filthy language, damaging her furniture at her residential office, the district bar association president Pramod Rath held the Collector responsible for the incident terming it an “unfortuante”.
