Nuapada: The hostage crisis continued to haunt Odisha as a police official was abducted by the suspected Maoists in Nuapada district. This is the third abduction by the red rebels in the state in past two months.

According to media reports, the ASI Krupa Ram Majhi of the Dharambandha Police Station was abducted by Maoists at around 11 AM in Nuapada. He was abducted while he was on his way to a local market. However, the rebels let off the constable accompanying him.

Earlier, BJD MLA Jhina Hikaka was released on April 26 after staying in the Naxals' custody for over a month. The Naxals had earlier abducted Italian national Paolo Bosusco from Kandhamal and released him on April 11.
