Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has condemned the brutal killing of Police ASI Kruparam Majhi in Nuapada District today. After returning from New Delhi, Naveen expressed sympathy for the family members of the victim.

Naveen Patnaik has announced a compensation of Rs 8 lakh for the slain ASI's family. They will also get the insurance claim of Rs 10 lakh. In addition, one member of his family will get the job. Kruparam's family will also receive the pension. All-out efforts are being made to nab the Maoist criminals, who gunned down the ASI, said the Chief Minister.

The 42-year-old Assistant Sub Inspector Kruparam Majhi was abducted near Lodra in Nuapada district around noon today by the armed Maoists. He was posted at Dharambandha Police Station. Kruparam was on his way to a CRPF camp on a bike, escorting a water tanker when the Maoists stopped him. His partner constable Deb Narayan Sahu was asked to leave, while Kruparam was taken away at gun point. His bullet-ridden body was later recovered.
