News Desk: The Centre slammed Odisha govt. on the Maoist menace yesterday. It blamed the Naveen Patnaik government of failing to take any strong counter measure to nab the Naxal problem.
The home ministry told the state to formulate Intelligence-based strategy to rip off the “rising Naxalism” in the state.
The centre was shocked to find that how come the CPI (Maoists) menace could not be axed in spite of having a strong presence of Central paramilitary forces in the state. At present Odisha is the only state where the Naxals are active.
The home ministry reportedly said that due to lack of operations by security forces, apparently the Naxals have decided to take advantage of the vulnerable situation to extend their influence and spread across several districts of Odisha.
It should be recalled that the Maoists had abducted two Italian citizens and a ruling MLA which was resolved with much difficulty. Besides that recently they had abducted and killed a Sub Inspector of Police in the Patnagarh Tehsil of Balangir District. The Maoists have also killed some other officials and Politicians on earlier occasions. Hence, it is a matter of great concern in the state now which needs to be solved at the earliest.
