Bhubaneswar: BJD MP Pyari Mohan Mohapatra, who reportedly turned rebellious against Odisha Chief Minister Neveen Patnaik, has denied the reports of any split within the party.
Mohapatra said that there is no dissidence in the party and calling a meeting to discuss about the organisation can not be called as 'indiscipline'.
Calling a press conference at his residence on Wednesday morning, He maintained that Patnaik continues to be the party leader and there is no plan to pull him out of the post of CM.
"We have had a lot of discussions earlier. There is no dissidence in the party. Grievances have increased because the party organisation is not looked after properly but the party is not heading for a split," Mohapatra said.
Asked about the Patnaik whether he is cutting his UK trip over such political crisis, he said, "Naveen Patnaik will be the leader of the party. I don't know why he is cutting down his foreign trip. He should be asked".
Dismissing the speculations and rumours, Mohapatra said that his loyalty to the party and Patnaik has been questioned. He said that he is associated with the party since 1999 and he will be with Patnaik and party.
He said that there was indiscipline in the party that needed to be checked. BJD has won every election because of the discipline which has been maintained. However, the party has not been looked after to an extent.
"Since one and a half years I have been pointing out about the indiscipline in the party, but no actions were taken. I will not admit that CM Naveen Patnaik has failed as a leader of the party," he added.
The clarification came after reports claimed that a powerful section within the ruling BJD, led by Mohapatra, had fallen out with the Chief Minister. The last night meeting at his residence sparked speculations of trouble for Patnaik, who is currently on UK trip. Â
Mohapatra had called a meeting at his Bhubaneswar residence on Tuesday night where 25 MLAs and three ministers were present. Sources said that Pyari even asked the members to sign a paper supporting him. However, the MLAs downplayed all the speculations saying that they were discussing how the party will play a key role to make the Bharat Bandh successful on May 31.
