By Himanshu Guru: In a shocking development, a government doctor in Odisha's Bargarh district along with his son assaulted four journalists inside his private clinic after the media people raised their voice seeking justice for a poor patient.
An FIR has been filed against the doctor and his family for beating the journalists. However, no arrest has been made so far and police said that doctor and his wife are absconding.
Dr. P. K. Patra and his son Ivan Patra attacked the media persons in the clinic (See the video) last Tuesday when the doctor was asked about a specific allegation of harassing a 'davit' family for giving the bill for the amount it charged against few days treatment of a seven month old baby.
The journalists attacked in the clinic were, Byomakesh Kara of a local TV news channel Kamyab TV, Rajesh Saraf of Naxatra TV, Badriprasad Sahu of Seashore TV, Sanjib Mahapatra, Editor of Local Odia weekly ‘Kosal Times’.
It is to be noted that Dr Patra is a government doctor in Bargarh District and was transferred to Kalahandi district in 2009. Even though Patra was relieved from Bargarh, he didn’t join in kalahandi but running the nursing home. It’s not clear whether the Doctor is still on leave or continues to be an absentee without intimation. (Check the video where the doctor and his son assaults the journalists)
coming in the wake of AmirKhan's 'SATYAMEBA JAYATE'programme, and the vociferous protests of the doctor community- righteously proclaiming that no cheating is ever being committed on innocent patients by doctors what one would like to term this violence as-vainglorious arrogance or violent assertion of their right to cheat the society?
