By Himanshu Guru: One of the renowned comedians of western Odisha Mr. Bairagi Deep is no more. He breathed his last couple of hours back today at the S.C.B. Medical College Hospital in Cuttack. He was 45.

 

Bairagi, who originally hails from western Odisha’s Bargarh district was first admitted to the Dist. Head Quarter Hospital in Bargarh for Malaria on June 19th and then shifted to the V.S.S. Medical College Hospital in Burla. But as his condition further deteriorated he was again shifted to Cuttack, where he breathed his last.

 

Bairagi Deep was paired with another famous comedian of Western Odisha Mr. Bindu and the hit pair is famously known as ‘Bindu-Bairagi’. This duo constitutes the most popular comedy pair in Western Odisha.

 

Bairagi acted in films like ‘Bhukha’, ‘Shree Jagannath’, ‘Jhili’ and some other movies as well as tele films directed by Sabyasachi Mohapatra. Besides films, he has acted in several comedy albums in Sambalpuri and Odia language and was also a veteran stage actor/comedian. It will not be exaggeration if he will be called the ‘comedy king’.

 

The whole artist community of Bargarh, Balangir, Sambalpur and Kalahandi have conveyed their condolence and opined that western Odisha has lost a big smile with the demise of Mr. Bairagi.

 

Interestingly, Bindu, his partner is a fat man and Bairagi has a thin physique. Hence the physique of the duo is enough to make someone laugh when they are on stage.

 

Eminent personalities from Ollywood and Bollywood including Sabyasachi Mahapatra, Sadhu Meher, Ghanteshwar Guru, Prakash Mahapatra, Litu Mohanty, Gopal Pradhan, Jitendriya Harpal and Prakash Sarangi has condoled the demise of Mr. Bairagi Deep.
