News Desk: Sohini Mishra, who is now gaining popularity for her unique voice and singing style, has made Odisha proud by becoming one of the top 10 participants in the popular singing reality show "Indian Idol 6".

The talented singer from Cuttack even earned a lot of praise from Bollywood's legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle in the show, which is being aired on Sony Entertainment. For the first time as aspiring singer from Odisha soil has reached such position.  


She was appreciated a lot for singing a modern mujra song 'Dil Mera Muft Ka' of the film "Agent Vinod". Singing in front of the stalwarts such as Asha Bhonsle, Sunidhi Chauhan and Anu Mallick is a rare feat in itself. Even guest judges like Abhishek Bachchan, Ajay Devgan also praised the Odia talent in the show.


Sohini, a trained classical singer, is a final year postgraduate student of biotechnology at the Ravenshaw University. Her father is an assistant headmaster. She is the youngest daughter in the family. She is a regular artiste of All India Radio (AIR), Cuttack. She started singing when she was 5-year-old. She learnt Indian classical music at the age of 8. She is proud of learning music from renowned classical vocalist Devendra Narayan Satapathy.


The Odia girl also has lent her voice in many Odia films and music albums.


She came to media highlight when she was qualified for the mega singing reality show as a participant. The entire Odisha including her friends, students, faculties of Ravenshaw University, the community radio of the University Ravenshaw Radio are wishing for her to be the Indian Idol of the year 2012. Even a special felicitation ceremony in the University will be organised when she comes back from Mumbai.
