Breaking News! In a significant development in reptile population, the number of crocodiles in Odisha's Bhitarkanika National Park has increased to 1,654. Last year their number was 1,610.

The Crocodile census conducted in the park in Kendrapada district from January 4-11 showed that growth of the reptile is enough for the year. The divisional forest officer Manoj Mohapatra said that the rise in crocodile population is a good sign and it was possible due to several conservation initiative measures in the park.

The annual census showed that there are 531 hatchlings, 377 yearlings, 304 juveniles, 166 sub-adults, and 276 adults including 4 big crocodiles of more than 20 foot long in the national park.

The habitat Bhitarkanika is the park of the largest population of giant salt water crocodiles in the country where more than 215 species of avifauna including eight varieties of kingfishers and 70 species of mangrove survive.

Bhitarkanika, yes, the home of many estuarine crocodiles. Glad to know the numbers are increased. Bhitarkanika is also a home to many domestic birds, and a paradise for many migratory birds. The another paradise for birds lovers is The Chilika Lake Lagoon in Orissa. Please visit : emarketinghoteltravel.com/tourism/only-orissa-tourism/chilika-bhitarkanika/ for few general information about Bhitarknaika and Chilika Lake. Best Wishes, Kartik Rath
