Bhubaneswar (Agencies): Breaking News! The Orissa government has come up with a plan to deal with the unprecedented power crisis in the state. It has decided to ask all factories and offices to take off for an extra day every week.

The power production in the state has taken a severe beating ahead of the grueling summer. It has been attributed to dip in water level in all hydro-power reservoirs in the state, following rain shortfall last year.

Although the Orissa government is trying to get power from other sources, it is still not enough and the state is short of at least 400-500 MW of power ev eryday. If the offices and industries take the power holiday every week, that will save about 200 MW of power every day.
