UP Polls: SP promises Quota for Muslims |

News Desk: The Samajwadi Party (SP) tried to allure the Muslim voters following the path of the Congress with a promise of reservations in government jobs and providing computers to the students.
SP Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav promised to keep reservation for Muslims in job sector and at least one Muslim will be appointed to the government committees. He also promised to give tablets and computers to the students if the party comes to power in Uttar Pradesh.
The government already provides 21 per cent reservation for Scheduled Castes, 2 per cent for Scheduled Tribes and 27 per cent for OBCs. However, it is not clear that how the SP will keep 18 per cent reservation for the Muslims, while the Supreme Court has limited the quota to 50 per cent.
The party's manifesto released by Singh promised that the students clearing class X exams will be provided tablets, those passing class XII will get free laptops.
Even the party promised to release the youths having criminal cases and pay compensation to them punishing the officials. The releases youths will be recruited in security forces.
Singh said that if the party comes to power, they will change land acquisition law in the state in which the investors will directly negotiate with farmers.
