Lucknow: In the political battle to gain the power in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP once again raised the issue of Ram Temple promising to build a grand temple in Ayodhya if voted to power in the polls.
In the manifesto for the state assembly polls, the BJP opened its card to mould the voters in the name of religion. The manifesto was released by senior party leaders Uma Bharati, Kalraj Mishra, Mukhtar Abas Naqvi, Narendra Singh Tomar, Suddhendra Kulkarni and UP State unit president Surya Pratap Shahi in Lucknow on Friday.
The manifesto said, “Construction of a grand temple is associated with the faith of crores of people of the country. Ram is the symbol of prestige, pride and dignity of the country. Unfortunately due to psuedo-secularism and vote bank politics it is being opposed. BJP is committed to remove all hurdles in the path of construction of Ram temple”.
Talking over the construction of Ram Mandir, Surya Pratap Shahi said that Hinduism was the life substance of the country, but was attacked by other parties like Congress, the Samajwadi Party (SP), the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Left to bag the votes.
The BJP however opposed to the minority quota or religion-based reservation, which was promised by the Congress. Leader of the BJP Legislative Party Om Prakash Singh said that the party will scrap 4.5 per cent reservation for minorities and 27 per cent quota of the OBCs will be restored of the party comes to power in UP.
Meanwhile, the party announced to constitute a Samanya Nirdhan Varg Kalyan Ayog for the welfare and development of poor people of the upper castes.
