Breaking News! Voting began in Manipur amidst tight security arrangements. Polling started at 7 AM and will continue till 3 PM. Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh is seeking a third term in office.

Voting is being held across 2,357 polling booths across all 60 constituencies in Manipur. Out of them, 875 booths have been termed as hyper-sensitive.

Around 350 companies of security personnel, including 270 companies of central paramilitary forces have been deployed to maintain law and order and ensure smooth polls in the state. People are coming out in large numbers to vote despite the threat issues by the militants.

An electorate of 17,40,576 will cast their ballot to choose 60 out of 279 candidates in the fray. A total of 12,967 polling personnel have been deployed to conduct the elections.

Despite the emergence of the People Democratic Front - a five-party pre-poll alliance, the Congress Party is all set to retain power in Manipur.
