New Delhi: The Election Commission of India has taken a drastic step today by recommending countermanding of Rajya Sabha polls in Jharkhand in view of horse-trading allegations.

Earlier, the EC has stopped counting of the polls that held today after Rs 2/15 crore cash were seized from a car of the relative of an Independent candidate in Ranchi.

The vehicle belonged to the brother of RK Agarwal, who was contesting the Rajya Sabha elections from the state.

The BJP and Left Parties have welcomed the EC's decision, saying money power was threating the democracy in Jharkhand.
