Breaking News! A special CBI court convicted former BJP President Bangaru Laxman in connection with the 2001 Tehelka Sting operation, which showed him taking Rs one lakh bribe on camera. The court has ordered the CBI to take him into custody immediately.

The court found Laxman guilty of taking bribe from a fake arms dealer under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The quantum of punishment will be announced tomorrow. Bangaru was taken into custody and will be sent to Tihar Jail.

Bangaru Laxman had to resign as the President of the BJP and lost his stature as the dalit icon status for the saffrom party after Tehelka showed the sting operation on national TV channels.

The latest development came as a huge setback to the BJP, which raised the Bofors issue in the Parliament yesterday. The Congress has slammed the saffron party and asked it to set its own house in order.
