BJP's SS Ahluwalia loses Jharkhand Rajya Sabha Polls |

News Desk: BJP leader SS Ahluwalia lost the Rajya Sabha polls in Jharkhand on Thursday, which is a setback for the saffron party. However, the candidates from the Congress and JMM won the polls.
Ahluwalia, who was a former Rajya Sabha deputy leader of opposition, required 23 votes to win the polls. But he bagged only 20 votes. BJP has 18 members in Jharkhand. However, JD(U) with two members supported the BJP.
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)'s Sanjeev Kumar and Congress candidate Pradeep Kumar Balmachu were elected to Rajya Sabha winning 23 and 25 votes respectively in the polls today.
There were two vacancies from Jharkhand but three candidates from Congress, JMM and BJP were fielded for the Upper House polls.
