Chennai: Amid the speculation of a political realignment ahead of the Presidential polls, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik met his Tamil Nadu counterpart J Jayalalithaa on Friday.

The two leaders shared dais in the Centenary Auditorium of the Madras University in Chennai today, which sparked the speculation that they would discuss the forthcoming presidential election and there would be possibility of cobbling together of a non-UPA and non-NDA front.

Patnaik, who is on a two-day visit to Chennai, had said yesterday that Jayalalithaa should head the proposed sub-committee of chief ministers that would examine the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC).

Both Jayalalithaa and Patnaik are two non-Congress chief ministers who have been opposing the setting up of the NCTC, which would violate the federal structure.

Patnaik is scheduled to attend the foundation stone laying ceremony of a proposed Odisha Bhavan in Chennai during his visit.
