India celebrates 60 Years of Parliament PDF Print E-mail

News Desk: India, the largest democracy in India is celebrating the 60 years of Parliament. The Parliament is having a special sitting today to mark the 60th anniversary of first sitting of the Lok Sabha.

 

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh addressed the Rajya Sabha and said that the world is looking at India with respect for its unflinching commitment to pursuing the democratic path to achieving social and economic salvation.

 

Several other leaders are addressing both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and hailed people for reposing faith in the democratic system of the country. Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Congress Leader Pranab Mukherjee, Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj, BJP veteran LK Advani and others addressed the Lok Sabha.

 

Sonia Gandhi slammed the people, who have been criticizing the MPs and Parliament in recent days. LK Advani and Sharad Yadav focused their speech on democratic values, Constitution and the principles of Mahatma Gandhi.
