New Delhi: Bollywood actress Rekha, who was nominated to the Upper House of Parliament along with cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and industrialist Anu Aga, took oath as the member of Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

 

The three were nominated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on April 27 under article 80 of the Indian Constitution that provides for nomination of persons having knowledge or practical experience in the field of literature, science, art and social service.

 

Their names had been forwarded by the Home Ministry to the President for her approval.

 

The 57-year-old Rekha was one of the leading actresses in the 70s and 80s, who has won several awards for her performances in films. She had bagged the National award for the film "Umrao Jaan".
