Breaking News! NCP leader and Former Lok Sabha Speaker PA Sangma met Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday in New Delhi to discuss his prospects as the presidential candidate.



Backing Sangma, Patnaik said that the NCP leader is the best candidate for the President post. Patnaik, who had first announced backing Sangma as the BJD's President Candidature, said that a distinguished tribal leader should be the president and he is the leader of crores of tribal people.


Talking to reporters after the meeting, Sangma praised Patnaik saying, he is the first to suggest his name for the post of President. “Patnaik is the first to respond to our call along with his Tamil Nadu counterpart J Jayalalithaa”, Sangma said.


Sangma, who has backing from AIADMK along with BJD, said, "We have sent appeals to all political parties to respond to the call".


Sangma, who was earlier, pulled up by his own party Chief Sharad Pawar, dismissed reports of dropping out of the race and said he was still in the race for the country's highest office.
