News Desk: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi extracted prices from the BJP as his critic and BJP National General Secretary Sanjay Joshi had to resign from the party on the day when the party is set to begin its two-day national executive meet.
His resignation cleared a way for Modi to attend the party meeting in Mumbai. Earlier, Modi had decided to skip the party meeting scheduled for May 24 and 25 in Mumbai.
However, Modi is likely to attend the party meeting as his key rival Joshi will not be present at the event. Sources said that Modi will attend the meeting after party president Nitin Gadkari speaks to him.
Joshi's resignation is a setback for Gadkari, who is aspiring to hold the post as the party chief for another term. But, it is a victory for Modi, who was upset with Gadkari for Joshi's induction in the party. He was the most trusted man of Gadkari, even he was made the in-charge of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.
Earlier, Joshi had resigned from the party in 2005 over a sex CD row.
