Petrol Price Hike: DMK threatens to Pull out of UPA |

Chennai: Key UPA ally DMK on Wednesday warned the Central government over the steep hike in petrol demanding rollback of increased price. It said that the party may pull out of the government if "anti-people policies" continues.
This time DMK chief M Karunanidhi has opposed to the petrol price hike. He issued a threat to the UPA government demanding rollback of petrol price soon. He staged protests across Tamil Nadu staged protests across Tamil Nadu after the petrol price was hiked by Rs 7.50 per litre.
He warned the government saying the party wants to stop anti-people policies. "We will sail with UPA till we can, but if it's not possible, we will leave to uphold our principles and policies. I hope the central and state governments will not give room to drive us to that extent", he said.
Addressing a large gathering of party supporters to protest against petrol price hike and the state government for increasing bus fares and milk prices, Karunanidhi said, "The DMK is in the coalition. But being in alliance is different but it is our duty to voice concern against policies that will affect the people".
"We have been in coalition in the past with the BJP and V P Singh (Janata Dal). Though we are a part of the central government, DMK has not hesitated to stop anti-people measures. It's in that spirit we are holding this agitation. We will sail with the Centre as long as possible", he said.
He said that the party will request the government to rollback. If it is not responded, they will follow their principles and policies.
