News Desk: Former Lok Sabha Speaker PA Sangma filed his nomination papers on Thursday for the President poll as the candidature backed by BJP, BJD, AIADMK, and Akali Dal.

Sangma filed nomination in the presence of senior leaders LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Nitin Gadkari, Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj, Parkash Singh Badal, Naveen Patnaik, Rajnath Singh, Vasundhara Raje, Ananth Kumar, Yashwant Sinha, Jaswant Singh and Subramanian Swamy.

Even Congress leader from Chhattisgarh, Arvind Netam, was also present during nomination. All the top leaders of BJP were present at the time Sangma filed his nomination except Gujarat Chief minister Narendra Modi.

If we will go by numbers, UPA nominee Pranab Mukherjee will win the poll. However, there will be close competition between two leaders as one is the government’s candidature and another one is a tribal leader.
