Breaking News! Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid landed in a fresh controversy for his statement on the party and government to the media. Clarifying the issue, he said that his statement has been misinterpreted.

Talking to media on Tuesday, Khurshid said to read his statement in a positive context. "My statement is being wrongly interpreted, we are trying to prepare for the future challenges", he said.

The Congress leader denied that he had never said, "Congress is directionless and the party has seen cameos of Rahul Gandhi's ideas. “With this trend of media reporting, I think such discussions and issues now need to be addressed only in party forum and not in media", he reacted.

Defending himself, he said that the party's young leadership has to prepare for future challenges. The party has to give strength to the government. He hopes that the government will be able to showcase its work before the 2014 general elections.

The union minister had raised eyebrows of oppositions when he took a dig at the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi.

In an interview to national daily 'The Indian Express', he had said that the root of the problems plaguing the Congress was the lack of "ideological direction" from its next generation leader Rahul Gandhi.

Khurshid said that It's a scattered situation in UPA-II as the governance and politics had not been, hinting that the Prime Minister was not in charge of the government.

However, SP leader Shahid Siddiqui had welcomed Khurshid's remark saying Rahul is not a leader material. He said that the minister has spoken the truth and the government under Manmohan Singh leadership is directionless. He slammed Rahul Gandhi saying he does not have anyy ideology and his fundamentals are not clear.

BJP also slammed the government and welcomed Khurshid's statement. The Congress should take the minister's statement seriously. BJP leader Kalraj Mishra said that Dr Singh is a weak PM as he does not have control over his Cabinet.

While the government is facing heats from oppositions due to weak economy and fall in rupee, Khurshid's remarks of the party and the government might put the government in trouble.
