News Desk: The crisis in the UPA government continued after NCP chief Sharad Pawar and Praful Patel resigned from the cabinet and the party held the Congressmen responsible for fuelling the unnecessary speculation in media.

Addressing a press conference on Friday morning after Pawar met UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Patel said that the NCP has been one of the most responsible allies of the UPA and it will also prepare with the UPA for the 2014 general elections.

However, some sections inside the Congress are misreporting the contents of Pawar's letter to the Prime Minister, Patel said. He made it clear about the issue of number 2 position in the government. He said that the position of Pawar does not depend on the numbers of seats of NCP.

He said in a rebellious voice that Pawar has not been sitting next to Sonia or Pranab. Hence, the NCP chief is not a pretty leader to raise such issue, he said.

It is expected that a compromise would be reached between the Congress and NCP as the UPA is making all possible efforts to convince Pawar and Patel after they sent their resignations to the Prime Minister on late Thursday night.

The Congress will hold a meeting today at 5 pm to discuss the latest development and crisis in the government.
