New Delhi: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has decided to take the battle to the Supreme Court over the summons issued to him by the SIT in a 2002 riots case. The apex court has admitted the application. Â The Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) had earlier summoned Narendra Modi to appear before it on March 21 in a case related to Gulbarga society riots in which former Congress MP Ehsaan Jafri and 62 others were killed. Â BJP MLA Kalubhai Maliwad, who is also an accused in this case, moved an application before the Supreme Court through his lawyer Ram Jethmalani. Â A three judge bench headed by Justice D K Jain directed the trial court in Ahmedabad to defer its hearing in the Gulburga society case in view of a petition filed in Gujarat High Court, which sought the transfer of the case to another trial court judge. |
